Classic Rallye Trieste-Vienna 2009

Dear classic car enthusiasts,

the Classic Rallye Trieste-Vienna is starting in its seventh consecutive year - participation is still possible!

Again, we are driving from the Adria coast to Austria's capital Vienna; in two distinct classes: Regularity and Race. In the one class, hundreths of seconds count as regularity speed is measured in special stages. In the other class, full speed determines the winner at the end.

The rallye is taking place from August 26th to 29th, 2009. We are proud to announce that rallye legend Walter Roehrl, double rallye world champion, will compete again in the race class. The rallye is again going to be a spectacular event: 4 days - 4 countries - 2 classes.

A small number of entries is still available in both classes.

In the Race Class, the purpose is to be the fastest team on a given special stage. The special stages are always closed-off streets, tracks or circuits. Connecting legs have to be finished in a predetermined time.

Both classes are mostly taking the same route during the event, excluding special stages. Eligible cars participating in either of the 2 classes have to be built between 1947 and 1981.

Special odometers, which are either driven mechanically or electromechanically will be admitted to the “Historic Regularity/Competition Class”. Examples are HALDA – Tripmaster, Twinmaster, Speedpilot, BelmogTwin, GTI rallye twin or Retrotrip as well as similar equipment linked to the speedometer shaft. Electronic equipment with LED, LCD or analogue display of any kind is forbidden. All route meters whose input is obtained by electronic sensors are forbidden; also those that are linked to wheels, shafts, gear box or differential or those that can be programmed. At the technical certification, the equipment will be adequately checked. The organiser has the right to check the observance of this directive during the entire event. An offense against these directives as well as carrying restricted equipment in the car implies a disqualification.

Each team receives a road book, a special rallye sign and a set of 2 start numbers for each vehicle either on the eve before the start, or before the start. The detailed route is described in in the road book. The road book is denominated in kilometres and miles.
There aren’t any other documents describing the route.
Each vehicle has to attach the start number and the rallye sign on the sides and the front of the vehicle. Labels of sponsors provided by the organiser have to be attached as well. The organiser does not take responsibility for inappropriate attaching (e.g. scratches). Other labels of any kind have to be approved by the organiser before the rallye.

Road Safety
The driver is responsible for the operating and road safety of his vehicle. Any damage of property or damage to persons caused during the event is the liability of the driver. The terms and conditions of the announcement are accepted and acknowledged by the signatory with the registration to the event.

We are looking forward to the 6th classic rallye Vienna – Trieste!

6. Classic Rallye Vienna-Triest 20.-23.8.2008

As you might notice, we again are changing directions and will again start in Vienna. Again, there will be two classes - race (FIA appendix K) and competition (regularity).

We are proud that Walter Röhrl, the double rallye world champion, will compete in the race class next year. The rallye is again going to be a spectacular event: 4 days - 4 countries - 2 classes.

Keywords for 2008:

Race class:
Is going to be extended and will be more demanding.
We are looking forward to many new drivers that will compete in this class. Race class drivers will get their own road book, a new drivers representative and their own time keeping (transponders and photo cells for the special stages) and there will be at least one big-sized racetrack (Rijeka in Croatia) with split competitor fields (maximum 30 cars in one field). Rallye tracks, 2 race tracks and hill climbs are going to be scored on total time. Up to 1981, all classes will be FIA sanctionated (Appendix K). The drivers will be able to enjoy 9 different special stages in 4 countries.
Total: 200 special stage kilometres.

Competition class:
Back to the roots! Stressless!
Average speed and timing tests that will be understandable for everyone. There will also be a new drivers representative in this class. The scoring will be demanding and measured with photo cells and via fixed starting times on fixed starting points.

Start in Vienna. Special stage in Vienna. Evening reception in a top location. Route through lower Austria and Styria to Slowenia. Race track: Rijeka in Croatia. Farewell near Triest…

Stay tuned for updates, details about 2008 and the registration process are going online in mid- november!
